The bed bugs belong to the specie of Cimex lectularius. These bugs are small reddish brown predators; have flat oval-shaped body; and are wingless insects that love to feed on blood of both human and animals to survive. The bed bugs feed during early morning and hide during daytime. These little creatures cause skin irritation and leave itchy bite marks that are swollen. They are known to be adventurous, stow away and hitchhikers believed to have originated from Asia, Africa and Europe. It is really hard to identify where do bed bugs come from as they can make themselves hidden undetected in luggage of vacationing visitors, home furniture and anywhere. Even a very, very small crack can house several bed bugs waiting to attack and feast on one’s blood given a very small chance.
The funny thing is – bed bugs can at once recognize body heat and sense carbon dioxide emitted by human and animals to identify their prey. Studies revealed that bed bugs even without feeding can last for months or more than one year clinging into a person’s clothes, in very small nooks, seams, crevices, suitcases or even hatboxes or cracks on walls or anywhere. They are known to lay five eggs per day or a total of 500 eggs during the entire life.
